I am not the best parent. I am not here to make you one.
I am here because somewhere in the chaos — the work, the noise, the distance that builds without anyone noticing — the most important thing gets missed. Not forgotten. Just missed.
They don't always have the words. But they have something sharper — pattern recognition built from needing to know what's coming next.
The hug. The laughter at your joke. The silence. None of it is random. One parent gets love and messages. Another gets laughter. The child gives each parent exactly what keeps things stable. That is not coldness. That is a child doing work that was never theirs to do.
A father told me he doesn't know what will happen — but he is less anxious now. Another finally understood how different his child's world actually is from his own.
Nobody left with a formula. Most left feeling a little less alone in it. That is what I can honestly offer.
I am reading more, learning more — not for credentials, but because understanding one more thing might make one child's life a little easier, one family a little more loving.
